This drum measures 8 1/4" high with a 13 1/2" diameter, and likely dates from the third quarter of the 19th century. The body of the drum is brass, and the hoops are black painted wood. The original ropes have white buff leather tugs. The original skins are in place at the top & bottom. There is no maker’s label apparent. CONDITION: drum shows light to moderate wear overall with more significant wear at the top of the top rim, likely from drumsticks. The top skin is intact. The bottom skin has an 8” tear on one side and a smaller 2” tear near the edge. Ropes are unbroken and tugs are all present. (02-20120/BF). $200-400.
