RIFLE. Cal. 303 British. S# G2565. Serial number matches on receiver, bolt & forend. Bbl. 20 1/2" including flash hider. Bbl. has British export proofs on top. Rifle has the correct No. 5 features w/ the exception of the no. 5 aperture sight which is the standard no. 4 model graduated to 1300.Blade front sight w/ protective ears mounted on the bayonet lug & flash hider assembly. Receiver is marked on left side of butt socket "M47C" indicating mfg. at the BSA Shirley factory. Receiver is additionally marked faintly at the left wall "NO.5.MK.1.". Hardwood stock set. Buttstock has correct buttplate w/ recoil pad. Forend has metal stock tip. Correct unmarked web sling. MAGS: 1 detachable 10 rd non-matching. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework finish w/ light wear & scattered handling marks throughout. Metal retains a large amount of its arsenal rework black finish w/ light wear & handling marks. Rear guard screw has been replaced by a shop-made pin. Very good shiny bore. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Mark Ivey Godfrey. (24-5246/RW). CURIO. $500-800.
