Cal. 77. NSN. Lock marked “BEMISTER”. Barrel 54” Round stamped with British proofs on heavy breech section which measures 1.45” & is intended for heavy charges of powder. Flint lock with flat plate has reinforced cock with notch at rear to engage dog which pivots behind cock. Lock features integral rounded pan, bridled friction frizzed & feather spring with spear finial. Lock plate marked “Bemister” in front of cock. Old possibly original stock extends to muzzle & appears to be made of beech wood. Mounts are rudimentary without buttplate, triggerguard or sideplate. Stock attaches to barrel with 3 driven on sheet brass bands which also hold simple wooden ramrod. CONDITION: fair to good. Barrel is dark brown heavily pitted patina. Lock matches well, is also dark but not so deeply pitted. Stock retain most of its period finish with most of its hand worn highlights. Rear tip of lock plate is missing. Bore is dark & pitted. Lock is operable but does not have half cock notch except for dog. (01-21670/MGM). ANTIQUE. $2,500-3,500.
