Overall length: 17 1/2". Blade length: 14 1/8". Blade has a single narrow fuller running down the center. Blade features gold highlighted etching on a blued field over half the length of the blade. Etching includes crossed flags, foliate decoration and a large Georgian crown over a script "GR". Gilded brass cruciform style crossguard with 4 sided elliptical arms. Gilded brass ferrule and pommel cap. Certifiably antique ivory grip. Gilded brass mounted leather sheath. Top mount features lineal decoration with a highly embellished frog stud. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray patina with scattered spots of darker staining. Blade retains approx. 50% original bluing and 70% original gilding. Crossguard, ferrule and pommel retain a majority of their original gilding. Grip has a single small age crack. Leather body of sheath is quite strong. Mounts retain 90% of original gilding. Overall, a wonderful example of a Georgian naval dirk. (02-17502/BF). $2,000-2,800.
