A fine British M1831 General officer's saber measuring 36 3/4" overall with an etched blade that shows foliate motifs, and a crowned VR on both sides. The blade is marked near the hilt "C. WEBB & CO -23- OLD BOND ST LONDON". Gilded brass mameluke style hilt with 2-piece grips of an off white organic material and a knot attached to the pommel. Gilded solid brass scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a gray patina with very minor spotting. Hilt shows traces of the original gilded finish. Grip has a few small chips and the knot is well worn. Scabbard has some gilded finish remaining mixed with pleasingly patinated brass. The body does show dents where a bend was straightened. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (02-25857/BF).
