ISSUE MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 577/450. NSN. Bbl 33". Ladder rear sight graduated to 1300 yards. Stud type inverted V front sight. This Martini-Henry is commonly referred to as a “Long Lever” introduced in 1887 w/ a modified extractor. This rifle was mfg. in Great Britain by Enfield & was later used by Nepal. Receiver is marked on right side w/ crown “V.R.”, “Enfield”, “1887”, crown over vertical arrow, “IV.” & “I.”. Receiver & bbl. have numerous view marks. The broad arrow appears on the lever & cocking indicator. Trigger guard is marked w/ Nepalese characters. Bbl. retained by 2 clamping bands. Upper band has lug for the pattern 1887 bayonet. Cleaning rod is present. 2 piece walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked on right side w/ “R.P.”, “3” & “1908”. Roundel is marked w/ “RAWUL.PINDI”. Buttstock has Nepalese characters & added number “3527”. CONDITON: stock set has moderate wear, staining & handling marks throughout w/ legible markings. Buttstock has approx. 1" crack at heel. Buttstock is slightly loose. Metal has turned overall gray & patina w/ wear, light oxidation & very fine pitting. Bore is turning dark w/ worn rifling. (01-22045/RW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
