SLING, DRUM AND BUSBY. A very fine uniform group likely dating to the early 20th century. The group includes a Scots Guard’s drummer’s uniform with a red body & blue cuffs showing 3 large buttons on each cuff. The entire face & sleeves of the uniform, along with the back & tails, are decorated with heavy white tape embroidered with what appear to be blue fleur de lis. The blue & white brassards at the shoulders utilize the same blue & white tape decoration with blue & white tassels at the base. The front of the uniform has 8 Scots Guards buttons & 1 plain button under the belt. The back features 8 Scots Guards buttons at the tail with intricate blue & white tape decoration. The bottom of the uniform is raw but has a looped thread edge. The lining appears to be red cotton. The pants are heavy blue wool with thick red piping down the outside of each leg. The white buff belt supports a 2 piece Scots Guards buckle & a white canvas protection pad is suspended from the belt & straps around the left leg. The white buff sling has a large rectangular brass buckle & a brass ring for supporting the drum. The drum measures 13" high &14 3/4" in diameter. It is generally decorated in white, blue & red with numerous gilded highlights. It features the British Arms on the front with a ribbon above that reads “1st BN SCOTS GUARDS”. Surrounding the arms are ribbons with the major battles of the Scots Guards up until 1918. The black bear skin busby has a black leather liner with rattan supports. The busby has a gilded brass linked chinstrap. There is a pair of military boots included with the uniform that have metal heel cleats &hobnails for marching. CONDITION: the uniform is in good solid condition with a few minor stains & moth nips. A few of the blue & white tassels are a bit frayed but present. The white buff belt & sling remain quite strong & undamaged. The drum shows very light wear overall with some flaking to the tugs. Busby is in solid condition. Boots show light wear.
