Cal. 74. NSN. Bbl. 38 1/2" w/ front stud, British proofs on top of breech section & bushed touch hole. Early 1800's style "WHATELY" marked lock. Musket walnut stock w/ 3 French style iron bbl. bands & iron furniture. Top of comb & in front of trigger guard is more recently stamped "T. O. WETHERELL". Tulip tip iron ramrod. CONDITION: bbl. has acquired a black patina showing light pitting & peppery oxidation throughout; heavy pitting around touch hole. Wood has good worn varnish w/ large cracks throughout, gouges & grain checks behind sideplate, & finish chips around buttplate. Front band spring has nail repair. Dark pitted bore.
