MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 303 British. S# 573. Bbl. 26". Ladder rear sight graduated to 1,650 yards. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Bolt is marked underneath w/ "E 6921". All visible parts markings are "E". Matching serial number on rear sight ladder. Volley sight is present & functional. Receiver has the early "ERA" marking indicating Eddystone Remington Arms. Left receiver rail has acceptance & view marks plus partial "EY" which also appears on the buttstock & means the rifle is approved for emergency use only. Walnut stock set. Stock has faint view mark under pistol grip & is marked on the right side of the stock w/ a broad arrow over an encircled "IE" indicating Eddystone manufacture. Also marked "PATT.' 14 / EY". Brass stock disc is unmarked. CONDITION: stock set has very good lightly cleaned appearance w/ generally legible markings. Stock has light wear & small scattered handling marks. Two small cracks behind receiver tang & one small missing chip at right rear of buttstock. Metal retains 75% of its original thinning blue w/ scattered spots of light oxidation & missing finish. Bore has frosted appearance w/ dark grooves leaving strong rifling. (25-2785/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
