MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 303 British. S# 24860. Serial number matches on receiver and bolt. Bbl. 26". Receiver is marked "ERA". All major parts markings are "E". Receiver marked with several view marks and "EY" on left rail which indicates a rifle approved for emergency use for only. Ladder aperture rear sight graduated to 1,600 yards. Blade front sight with protective ears. Front volley sight is present. Rear volley sight aperture is broken. Aperture is not present. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is marked on right side of butt with encircled "IE / PATT. '14 EY". Brass marking disc is blank. British green web sling. CONDITION: stock set has a professionally restored finish and several small areas of wood filler while retaining a pleasing appearance and legible markings. Metal retains 75% of its original lightly worn finish. Bolt body and extractor are polished in the white. Bore has strong rifling with lightly frosted grooves. (26-2461/RW). CURIO. $500-800.
