WITH CASE. Cal. 338 Win Mag. S# 64085L72 (1972). The 24" medium weight barrel has Utah and Montreal addresses, S# and caliber marked at center portion of barrel. In its list of calibers sorted by rarity the Blue Book does not include the .338, so it may be fairly rare, although quite a few examples are found for sale. The FN type push feed Mauser action has side safety, gold plated trigger and hinged floorplate. Barrel and action are engraved with well cut open scroll having some acanthus highlights. Engraving on floorplate surrounds a stylized rams head. Pistol grip buttstock made of crotch figured American walnut measures 13-3/4" over brown Browning pad and features: Monte Carlo comb with swept right hand cheekpiece, stock reinforcing bolts, rosewood forend and grip cap, with contrasting white wood spacers. Skipline checkering has fancy crenulated border. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rifle is housed in its original brown vinyl Browning case lined in brown faux fur which contains instruction book, keys and sling loops. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Appears to be unfired since proof with only a few very minor handling and assembly marks in all factory finishes. Bottom of bolt knob shows some staining. Bright shiny bore. Mechanically fine. (23-2139/MGM). C&R. $2,500-3,500.
