LIMITED EDITION LEVER ACTION RIFLE ENGRAVED BY T. MORI. WITH MATCHING FACTORY BOX. Cal. 45-70. S# 00602MT1889. Bbl. 26". 1 of only 2,000 State of Montana Model 1886 Centennial lever action rifles mfg. in Japan and imported/retailed by Browning Arms Company. The left quarter flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked with Browning's importer information above "MADE IN JAPAN", with the cal. designation marked at the breech. Right quarter flat of bbl. is marked with the model and cal. designations. Left side of receiver is engraved with the outline of the state of Montana, featuring a scene of a gold engraved bison, followed by 2 banners reading "1889" and "1989" in gold letters, as well as The Great Seal of the State of Montana above the engravers signature "T.MORI". Right side of receiver is engraved with a banner that reads "MONTANA 1889 1989" above a smaller banner reading "ONE OF 2000", followed by the S#, and a scene of a gold engraved bear. Receiver and lever exhibit a bright polished finish, with the bbl., mag. tube, forend cap, hammer, trigger, and buttplate exhibiting a blue finish. Nicely figured checkered wood straight grip buttstock and forend. Brass beaded blade front sight with square notch rear sight. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching factory box. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory finishes, with some small spots and flecks of dark discoloration present on the underside of the receiver. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture is very good to excellent, showing a few minor marks and small impressions. Box shows exterior wear from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (24-1587/MLW). MODERN. $2,000-3,000.
