Cal. 14 bore. NSN. Bbl. 32 3/4" of twist steel, round w/ faceted transition to forward fluted octagon shank. Top flat is marked “BRUNTON . DONCASTER.” Referring to the town in south Yorkshire, England. Bottom flat marked “TWISTED . STUBS.” w/ crown over V London view mark. Breech end of bbl. has a gold band w/ gold bordered touch hole. Small blade front sight. Finely finished lock is rounded at back to match the stock contour & is marked “BRUNTON” forward of the cock. Lock plate has wheat stock border engravings that compliment engraving on the top tang. Wedge fastened half length English walnut stock w/ ebony tip & checkered wrist. Iron shotgun butt has engraved peak. Long tang pineapple finial engraved iron trigger guard. German silver fittings consist of shield at wrist & oval wedge escutcheons. Faceted iron thimble & 2 plain pipes hold brass tipped ramrod to under rib. WEIGHT: 5 lbs., 6.8 ozs. CONDITION: very good. Bbl. has faded to light mottled brown appearance w/ some very light pitting. Lock retains a very good dull blue appearance. Iron fittings have faded to gray showing some light pitting. Stock has aged dark appearance w/ numerous scratches, dents & marks. Small added wood repair is found behind top tang w/ a crack extending from the front of the lock. Sound lock. Exceptionally nice bore shows some light pitting predominantly in its front portion.
