MARTINI RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. S# 24365 (HRB S# 111.70). This rifle was originally mfg. 1893 by the Henry RIfle Barrel Co. (H.R.B. Co.) as a cavalry carbine, then converted by C.G. Bonehill Co. of Birmingham, England as a 22 LR target rifle for the Society of Miniature Rifle Clubs (S.M.R.C.). Bbl. 29.75" has original carbine rear sight; modern front sight base has globe hood missing aperture & spirit level. Military Martini action w/ added modern base holding Lyman 524 receiver aperture sight. Original appearing carbine forearm with bayonet lug converted to have sling swivel, wooden filler in ramrod channel, wooden filler to barrel channel, & added checkering. Walnut buttstock w/ added checkering & stamped "13" on right. CONDITION: receiver has traces of old blue with balance having brown & gray patina streaks showing scattered spots of pitting & deep marks. Breech block & receiver sight base has very good blue. Wood has worn checkering, scattered sm. gouges & dings. Very good rifling. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (01-28414/MD). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
