HIS SERVICE WITH THE US 7th INFANTRY DIVISION. Before his service during the Korean War, Captain Ertl served with the US 9th Division and was captured by the Germans during the Battle of the Bulge on December 19, 1944. At the time he was a 1st Lt. and heavy weapons platoon leader. The Uniform is accompanied by numerous original documents including; Jan 7, 1945 letter to his family informing them that he was missing in action, Feb 23, 1945 war prisoner message from the War Prisoner Message Listening Post, Feb 28, 1945 letter to the family informing them he was alive and a prisoner of the enemy, Mar 16 1945 letter informing they have not yet located him despite the end of the war. In addition there are copies of military records and research. CONDITION: overall very fine. (02-26231/ZAL). NON-GUN. $200-400.
