DERRINGER. Cal. 41. NSN. Bbl. 2" semi-octagon with dovetailed mounted semi-circular German silver sight. Top flat of bbl. and lockplate are marked "A. WURFFLEIN/ PHILA". Right flat is marked "CAST STEEL". Breech section has 2 German silver bands with sunburst highlights. Curved back action lock and hammer with scroll engraving. Top tang and acorn finial German silver trigger guard have complimentary engraving. Birds head style wedge fastened walnut stock with checkered wrist having German silver fittings. Andrew Wurfflein made pocket pistols that were styled very closely after the Henry Deringer type, circa. 1850s-1860s. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 7 3/8"x4 5/8"x1 11/16" rosewood box with brass hinges. Case shows light wear with scratches and marks. CONDITION: bbl. has a mottled faded blue and gray appearance. Lock has largely faded to gray. Trigger guard has lightly worn original finish showing small scratches and marks. Sound lock. Very good bore retaining strong rifling. (01-27876/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-2,000.
