Cal. 31. S# 164125. Bbl. 3” octagon w/ New York address & bead sight. Known to collectors as the “Wells Fargo”, this desirable variation is made without the loading lever. Five shot round cyl. w/ stagecoach scene w/ roll engraving. Blue & case colored finish w/ silver finished brass backstrap & small round trigger guard. 1 Piece walnut grips. Bbl., frame, grip straps & cyl. have matching numbers. “8" is found below the S# on the frame. Left side of trigger guard has “M” inspection mark. Mfg. 1860 just prior to the American Civil War. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: period wood casing w/ red cloth fitted interior. Case contains powder flask, 2 cavity brass mold, nipple wrench, cap tin, case key & round balls. Case exterior shows light scratches & marks. Interior shows fading w/ wear spots & small tears. CONDITION: good. Metal has a light brown patina appearance showing scattered spots of pitting & handling marks. Cyl. retains 75% scene. Grip straps retain over 50% silver. Grips show wear & finish loss w. scattered scratches & marks having small chips around butt. Good mechanics. Dark lightly pitted bore w/ intact rifling. (01-22847/JB). ANTIQUE. $2,500-3,500.
