Cal. 44 Colt. S# 15035. Bbl. 7 1/2” round w/ octagon shank having the New York address. Round six shot cyl. with rectangular stop slots and Texas Ranger scene roll engraving. Blue finish with case colored frame, hammer & loading lever. Silver finished brass backstrap and round trigger guard. Bbl., frame, grip straps, cyl., loading lever & wedge have matching numbers. 1 Piece walnut grip. Total of 10,500 mfg. 1851-1861. Mfg. 1855. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: period style casing of fancy walnut with brass finished trim. Blue cloth fitted interior shows wear & fading. Case contains dragoon size patriotic themed flask, 2 cavity brass mold, oil bottle, cleaning rod, cap tin & case key. Also included is a six round package of combustible envelope cartridges, cal. 44-100. 1 Lid strap is loose on back end. CONDITION: fine overall. Bbl. retains 25% dull fading blue on its rear portion with a series of small dents on the right side around the wedge. Cyl. has faded to gray showing clearly visible scene. Frame & loading lever show a small amount of very light case colors. Grip straps show evidence of cleaning retaining only traces of silver finish. Grips show heavy wear and marks w/ added coat of finish. Sound mechanics. Bore retains sound rifling with spots of frosted appearance. (01-22836/JB). ANTIQUE. $8,000-12,000.
