REVOLVER. Cal. 31. S# 197776. Bbl. 6" octagon w/ engraved "Saml Colt" marking. Dovetail mounted blade front sight. Round six shot cyl. w/ stagecoach scene roll engraving. Frame, bbl., grip straps & loading lever have early Germanic vine type factory scroll engraving w/ punch dot backgrounds as produced in the shop of Gustave Young. Hammer has signature wolf's head. Large round trigger guard silver finish. Bbl., frame, grip straps, loading lever & cyl. have matching numbers. Dot below S#s signifies silver finish. 1 Piece Ivory grip. Mfg. 1862 during the American Civil War. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: period style presentation box w/ faded cloth interior showing wear spots. Box contains American eagle flask, 2 cavity mold, cap tin, round ball & bullets. Also includes 1 five round package of combustible envelope cartridges. CONDITION: very good. Bbl., frame, cyl. & loading lever finish shows a dull gray tarnish. Grip straps have brighter silver finish. Grips have a mild aged yellow appearance w/ grain checks & small chips. Good mechanics. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling. (01-22850/DS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
