POCKET POLICE REVOLVER. Cal. 36. S# 40853. 6.5" barrel, the longest made for this model. Revolver was manufactured in 1868, New York style engraving and gold & silver plating often attributed to the Nimschke shop. Mounted with 2-piece smooth mother of Pearl grips. Housed in red velvet lined mahogany compartmented casing, with silver plated COLT PATENT two cavity mold & silver plated COLT PATENT eagle flask, wood block pack of scarce "COLT NEW MODEL REVOLVING POLICE PISTOL" combustible cartridges, & Colt "L" shaped combination tool. CONDITION: pistol is fine as replated, all matching and original, replated mold & powder flask have dark gray silver oxidation, combination tool and cartridges are very good, cap tin is reproduction. Colt casing was "refit" by consigner in 1998. Mechanically fine, crisp rifled bore. PROVENANCE: Collection of Horst Kreiner. (01-24003/JS). $4,000-5,000.
