Cal. 44. S# 123357. Bbl. 8” round w/ German silver blade front sight & standard New York address. Round rebated six shot cyl. w/ naval scene roll engraving. Left side of frame has hand engraved “COLT’S/PATENT” marking. Forward portion of loading lever has hand matted finish. 1 Piece rosewood grips have relief foliate carving above & below checkering. Blue & case colored finish w/ silver finished brass trigger guard. Bbl., frame, grip straps, cyl. & wedge have matching numbers. “P” is found above or below S#s on bbl., frame & grip straps. Mfg. 1863 during the American Civil War. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: wood casing has oval brass nameplate & lid marked “A.J. Banker M.D.”. Case contains powder flask, 2 cavity mold, cap tins, round balls & case key. Also included are 2 six round packages of pressed waterproof cartridges. Case exterior shows lightly worn finish w/ scratches & marks. Cloth interior has faded appearance w/ wear spots. CONDITION: metal retains traces of finish w/ balance having a pleasing silver gray patina. Brass trigger guard is largely bright retaining 10% silver. Very good grips show small handling marks & chips around butt. Sound mechanics. Bore retains sound rifling showing scattered light pitting. (01-22827/DS). ANTIQUE. $5,000-7,000.
