RURAL FAMILY. (Probably New Portland, Maine) Chansonetta Stanley Emmons (CT/ME, 1858-1937). Probably a silver bromide original photograph of an interior view showing housekeeper and family. Housed in a modern ebonized molded frame matted under glass. Signed by the artist on lower left. Chansonetta had two brothers who were prolific and successful inventors, they produced the Stanley Steamer; one of the first successful steam driven autos. They also invented the Stanley Photographic Dry Plate, which they sold to Kodak. Chansonetta was a gifted artist and photographer who captured image of rural Maine in the early 20th century, always depicting images without signs of the 20th century; such as electricity poles, autos etc. Her images appeared as if they were done in the mid 19th century. SIZE: Image is 4 3/8" x 6 3/8". Overall is 12 1/2" x 14 1/4". CONDITION: generally very good. (05-389/TG). $500-1,000.
