DISPLAY. 39 1/2" x 32" Overall. Left panel shows four hunters w/ box of cigars in a wooden dingy. 1 Cigar smoking hunter is standing up to shoot at flying mallard drake. Top of panel is marked "CHARLES / DENBY / CIGARS". Bottom is marked "H FENDRICH, / MAKER / EVANSVILLE, INDIANA". Center panel shows the hunter falling on his back into the water w/ the gun firing into the air as the mallard flies safely away & the other 3 hunters scramble to steady the boat. Bottom of panel is marked " A TRUE INCIDENT". Top of panel has picture of open box of Charles Denby "Londres Grande" 5 cent cigars w/ Claro, Colorado address. Right panel shows hunter in the water w/ hunter in the boat about to throw a lifesaver. Top of panel is marked "CHARLES / DENBY/ CIGARS". Bottom of panel is marked "You won't go wrong / with the "Denby" Cigar". Frendrich Cigar Company was founded in the 1840's in Baltimore by The Frendrich brothers who immigrated from Germany. in 1855, the company headquarters moved to Evansville, IN. The Charles Denby brand was one of many they manufactured. CONDITION: panels show light fading & staining w/ sm. chips & tears along edges. (02-13984/DS). $1,500-2,500.
