HALFSTOCK RIFLE. Cal. 38. NSN. The octagon 37" barrel is stamped "C. KELLER / EVENSVILLE, IND"; Charles Keller was in business 1848-1900 in Evansville, Indiana making percussion half stock rifles. Blade front sight & semi buckhorn rear sight. Josh Golcher lock with game scene engraving. Double set triggers. Half length wedge fastened walnut stock with pewter nose cap & hardwood ramrod; held by 2 pipes on under rib. Brass furniture includes finger curl trigger guard, crescent buttplate, toeplate, wedge escutcheons, & sideplate. CONDITION: Barrel & lock have brown patina appearance with pitting. Wood has heavy gloss finish overall marks & large cracks. Brass shows patina & varnish with triggerguard showing deep dents. Ramrod has chips. Good bore. (01-25220/MD). $400-600.
