PISTOL. Cal. 25 ACP. S# 711. Bbl. 3 1/4". Charloa y Anitua, was established in Eibar in 1880, began making C96 type semi-automatic pistols by 1899. The first series of guns were chambered in 5mm, this chromed example, with a replaced bbl., was part of the second series with the short safety lever as pictured in "Astra Firearms & Selective Competitors" by Leonardo M. Antaris on page 18. Top of the bbl. extension is marked "PATENT". There are no other markings on the pistol except for the S# that was applied under the head of the bolt. Fitted with 2-piece smooth bone replacement grips. The lanyard ring stud is present; missing the rotatable lanyard ring. CONDITION: good overall with bbl., bbl. extension, floorplate, trigger guard / grip strap gray with staining. The frame having approx. 70-80% of reapplied chrome finish. Bright bore, etching, strong rifling. Proper manual mechanics. One of the more unusual Spanish pistols, whose external appearance resembles a miniature Mauser C96. (25-3439/LMA). CURIO. $1,500-2,250.
