Cal. 7.63mm. S# 14255. Bbl. 5". China was embroiled in a near-continuous civil war from approx. 1916-1949. Although western powers supplied much of its armament, the need for additional arms was such that local artisans / shops set up independent operations. This oversized copy of an FN 1900 pistol, chambered for the popular .30 Mauser, is one such example. The gun has a 5" bbl., a half-moon front sight, and a notched rear sight coupled with the same cocking indicator as found on its smaller counterpart. As common to most Chinese artisanal-made guns, the sides of the pistol are littered with nonsense English lettering and poorly executed faux Belgian proofs. Full S# is on the right side of the sight, slide, and unslotted frame. Fitted with horn panels, the upper field with encircled but incorrect "FN" logo surmounting an area of fine checkering. Unmarked mag., with positioning ridges on each side, the right side drilled with 5-indicator holes. MAGS: 1 approx. 9-rd. CONDITION: VG+ original blue with sharp edge wear but relatively little thinning on the front and back straps. Bore with shallow and seemingly incomplete rifling. Correct manual mechanics. One of the nicer examples of the large FN 1900 copies made to fire the popular Mauser C96 cartridge. (25-3442/LMA). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
