RIFLE W/ VIETNAM CAPTURE PAPERS. Cal.7.62X54R. S# A5675. Bbl.20 1/2". Round receiver is unmarked. Barrel is marked over chamber "triangle 26" and dated "1960". Tangent rear sight graduated to 1000 meters. Post front sight w/ protective hood. Folding spike bayonet w/ 12 1/4" blade. Straight bolt handle. Laminated buttstock is unmarked. Transverse reinforcing bolt in grip. Hardwood handguard, metal tip is not present on forward end. Green web sling originally made for SKS carbine fastened at forward end with rawhide thong. CONDITION: stock set has the heavy wear, staining and handling marks expected from long service in a harsh environment. Handguard is missing app. 1/2" of the tip with a 2" crack. 1/2" crack behind the receiver tang. Metal shows about 50% of its blue finish turning patina. Bore has frosting, oxidation and worn lands. PROVENANCE: Vietnam capture papers from a Military Policeman of the 552 MP CO. The papers are dated in 1971 and contain several original copies of "DD 603" and importation papers in English and Vietnamese. (25-1490/RW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
