Cal. 7.63mm. S# 58301. The Chinese held the Mauser C96 in the highest esteem and made many unauthorized copies, most w/out manufacturer identification, as per this example. The pistol resembles a full size Late 1930 Commercial C96 in having a stepped bbl. reinforcement forward of chamber & a lg. Mauser banner logo on the left frame. As true for the Mauser, it has a 5.5" bbl. w/ a fixed front sight & a slip-in rear sight graduated from 50-1000. Short extractor, 2 lug firing pin (w/ 3 recessed holes in bolt), safety & hammer reminiscent of a Prewar Commercial. Nonsense lettering on top of chamber. Full S# repeated on left chamber flat & left side of bbl. extension. Lg. Mauser banner on left side of frame. Nonsense characters on right side of frame. Crudely mfg. serrated grips secured w/ a single bent staple similar to a cotter pin. Lanyard ring present. Follower & floorplate unnumbered. No further disassembly was effected. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked shoulder stock of recent Chinese mfg. that does not fully engage pistol slot, needing adjustment. Lid closes nicely over enclosed pistol. CONDITION: this is a gray /brown gun, a condition that extends to all minor parts. Grips stained w/ numerous handling marks. Dark bore w/ easily discernible rifling. Action sticky, though manual function appears correct. Recent production stock is near new.(22-3174/LMA). CURIO. $750-1,500.
