STOCK. Cal. 7.63mm. S# 12794. The Chinese held the Mauser C96 in the highest esteem and made many copies. One of the better-known manufacturers was the Hanyang Arsenal that made both full size & Bolo dimensioned C96s. The majority were made w/ a bbl. band under the front sight, a single lug firing pin & had a single line inscription on the right side of the frame that referenced the Hanyang factory & year of production. This particular pistol, modeled after the full-size Mauser, has a 5.5" bbl. has a fixed front sight & a slip-in rear sight graduated from 50-1000. Short extractor, single lug firing pin. Safety & hammer as per the Mauser Prewar pistols. The full S# is on the left side of the chamber flat & repeated in the usual location over the bolt, hammer, subframe, bolt stop & back of frame. Right side of frame has the single line inscription w/ numeral "16", that references the mfg date of 1927. The left side of the frame marked "87" referencing a rack or issue number. Smooth replacement wood grips. Lanyard ring present. Mag. follower & floorplate are unmarked, no disassembly was effected. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked Chinese shoulder stock having a handmade sheet metal lug & an oval hinge. Attached stock fits loosely to pistol. CONDITION: 98% coverage of a hastily applied reblue that covers all the sm. parts excepting the extractor, sight bar, trigger, hammer & hammer safety & subframe that are in-the-white. Dull bore w/ easily discernable rifling. Proper manual mechanics withcocked hammer needing to be retracted before safety can be fully engaged. Shoulder stock w/ a noticeable 5" split. (22-3176/LMA). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
