LEVER ACTION SHORT RIFLE WITH MATCHING FACTORY BOX. Cal. 45 Colt. S# W63354. Bbl 20". Model 1866 short rifle manufactured by Uberti in Italy and imported by Cimarron Firearms of Fredericksburg, TX, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the American Quarter Horse Association. The octagonal bbl is stamped with Cimarron's importer information over the top flat, with the caliber designation stamped on the left at the breech. The receiver features beautiful acanthus leaf scroll engraving by Bottega C. Giovanelli, with "75" within the silhouette of a horse above a banner reading "1940 AQHA 2015" on the left side, and with "AMERICAN/ QUARTER/ HQRSE/ ASSOCIATION" engraved on the right. Brass frame exhibits a bright polished finish, with the bbl, sights, mag tube, lever, and hammer exhibiting a nickel plated finish. Plain wood straight grip buttstock and forend. Dovetailed blade front sight with dovetailed semi-buckhorn square notch rear sight. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching factory box. CONDITION: extremely fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory finishes. Underside of receiver and sides of lever exhibit some scattered spots of discoloration, but are otherwise fine. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture is excellent. Box shows some mild exterior wear, with a couple tears, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (23-4901/MLW). MODERN. $1,000-1,500.
