SABER. Overall length: 36 1/2". Blade length: 30 1/2". Tri-color blade has a single wide fuller with gold highlighted etching on a blued field over half its length. Etching includes sprays of arms & foliate motifs. There are 2 white panels on either side of the blade. Etched markings near the ricasso read “Warranted” & “DAVIS. WATSON & CO. Boston”. Gilded brass hilt with fanciful 4-slot guard. Heavily embellished knuckle bow featuring an eagle on rocks with laurel leaves. Well-articulated eagle head pommel with carved certifiably antique ivory grip. Gilded brass scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray patina with some wear to the etching & blued field. Markings remain quite clear. Hilt is solid and retains areas of original gilded finish. Grip is 97% complete, but has 2 severe cracks. Scabbard shows traces of original gilded finish with several shallow dents concentrated near the tip. (02-19191/BF). $1,500-2,000.
