Overall length: 39 1/2". Blade length: 32 1/2". Tri-colored blade has a single wide fuller with alternating panels of gilt highlighted etching on a blue field and etched white panels. Etching features patriotic, military & foliate motifs, including a large spread-wing eagle. Gilded brass hilt with eagle-on-globe decorated languets. Stepped guard with acanthus leaf quillon. Highly embellished floral & foliate knuckle bow. Open beak eagle head pommel with plain backstrap. Intricately carved bone grip. Highly embellished gold plated brass scabbard featuring numerous foliate motifs and an eagle on shield. CONDITION: blade has an overall light gray patina with notable spotting and some discoloration. Etching remains clear and quite attractive. Hilt retains nearly 90% of its original gilded finish. Grip has one tight age crack. Scabbard has a small cut about 17” up from the tip. It retains about 50% of its original gilded finish and the engraving remains clear. (02-19187/BF). $1,500-2,300.
