Etching includes military & foliate motifs featuring a classical stand of arms. This sword features an exceptional gilded brass hilt with a large downturned guard displaying a spread-wing American eagle on anchor. There is an eagle head quillon & a heavily embellished knuckle bow of classical form & motif. The ovoid lozenge pommel features an American eagle on one side with 17 stars above and a shell & flourish motif on the other. 1 Piece wood grip with fine crosshatching on each side. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray finish with some spotty oxidation. Etching & blued field are vibrant, though there is some oxidation near the hilt.
