1) SHAKO. Shako measures approx. 7 1/2" high & 10 3/4" in diameter at the top. The shako is constructed of both finished & unfinished leather w/ a sm. brass buckle in the back. There is an illegible partial paper label in the crown. The front plate is a heavily gilded eagle standing in a laurel wreath. There is provision at the top for a pompom or feather plume. Lg. leather sweatband. CONDITION: hat generally shows light wear overall. Shako appears to have at one time had side bosses that are not present. Hat is very solid. Front plate is crisp.
2) CARTRIDGE BOX. A fine example of an early French cartridge box from the first half of the 1800s. Box measures approx. 9" x 6". Black leather box has a wooden insert & brass buckles beneath. Box is suspended by a lg. white buff shoulder belt that buckles to the back of the box. There is an 8 1/2" white buff leather tab that’s extends from the central rear of the box out the side. CONDITION: box generally shows light to moderate wear. Suspension strap has some light staining. Box & strap are both generally quite solid. (02-15675/BF). $800-1,100.
