REVOLVER WITH CARVED IVORY GRIPS. Cal. 36. S#24385. Standard configuration, slightly longer 7.75” octagonal barrel with “E. WHITNEY / N HAVEN”, Brass pin front sight, rolled cylinder scene of Whitneyville shield, lion, eagle, and monitor in naval battle. Scoll & punch dot engraved solid frame & barrel. The original carved ivory grips of zouave bust on left side have matching last 2 digits on SN inked inside each half. Brass banded mahogany casing has two original wrapped woodblock packs of Sage navy cartridges for Whitney navy pistol, tin of caps, 2-cavity blued mold marked “S.T.B.”, combination tool, and decorated powder flask. CONDITION: revolver is very good overall, gray patina, hints of finish on unserialized cylinder, all matching serial numbers, grips have toned patina, mechanically fine, good rifled bore, blue baize lining worn & soiled, mold retains thinning blue, cartridge packs fair but sealed and complete.
