Cal. 44. S# 39495. Standard configuration of the most popular sidearm of the US cavalry during the Civil War, 8” bbl., 1 line New York address, iron backstrap cut for shoulder stock, & brass triggerguard. This pistol was made in 1862 & no doubt saw lots of action. CONDITION: good overall, gray metal patina, all matching except wedge which is replacement. Naval battle cyl. scene is partially discernible, safety pins worn but intact. No cartouche visible as grips are well worn but sub inspector marks found on bbl., cyl., & backstrap. Dark bore w/ oxidization & light pitting but strong lands. (01-17268/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,500.
