Overall length: 42". Blade length: 35 1/8". This style of sword is generally considered a Kenansville, however some feel it is a product of Boyle & Gamble. It has a plain blade with a single wide unstopped fuller. Solid brass hilt with 2 branch guard that joins the knuckle bow at about the mid-point before entering the base of the pommel. Plain Phrygian helmet style pommel. Copper wire wrapped leather grip. Iron scabbard with heavy lapped seam. Brass throat and scabbard bands with iron suspension rings. CONDITION: blade has a smooth light gray lightly mottled patina. The hilt is quite misshaped with the outer branch severely bent. The counterguard is bent down significantly but possibly on purpose. Grip retains approx. 70% leather and 100% wire. Scabbard has a heavily oxidized patina. There is a partial break 19" up from the tip and again at 21 1/2". There is a severe dent near the drag and several other dents scattered throughout the scabbard. (02-17448/BF). $1,800-2,300.
