BAYONET. Cal. .577. S# 4447. Bbl. 32". comb rear of barrel tang, 2 iron barrel bands, DC/anchor stamped on lock, stock, & barrel is trademark for Liege firm of O.P. Drissen & Co. Brass buttplate, trigger guard , and lock plate escutcheons, long range ladder rear sight, fixed blade on pedestal front sight & long lug saber bayonet adapter numbered "4447". Accompanying S&K made iron & brass handled saber bayonet is also trademarked "DC/anchor". Civil War era sling has "U.S." surcharge. CONDITION: very good overall, complete & original, iron surfaces cleaned with uniform pitting throughout, markings all discernible. Stock is sound with many storage dings & dents. Mechanics are crisp, sharp rifled bore. Bayonet is very good, gray stained blade, fits rifle well. Sling is solid, supple, has emollient treatment. (01-23302/JS). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
