DRUM. 14” diameter x 12” height, about ¾ scale of standard Civil War drum, same quality made for drummer not big enough to carry full size drum or a child. The painted eagle is exacting copy in ¾ scale of regulation. This is a rare survivor being an exact miniaturized regulation Civil War snare drum.
CONDITION: very good, paint is above average for other surviving eagle drums, snares missing, both heads are complete and tight, both hoops are complete retaining much of their original red paint. Soiling and staining on bottom head and hoops, weathered areas of body with cracking and raising of grain, still sound and solid. Vent hole is centered in eagle’s shield. Ropes and tighteners are all good restorations. (02-17018/JS). $3000-4000.
