UNKNOWN STANDARD SIGNAL. 19" x 32" Flag was originally catalogued by prominent dealer as a Civil War Army Corps HQ flag & was stated to have accompanying letter by Civil War flag expert Howard Madaus. No letter is found today, but original cataloging is linked online. Regardless this flag is no doubt Civil War era made w/ single ply red, white, & blue bunting, sewn-through shield & cross, linen leading edge sleeved w/ cord. Flag is stitched totally on treadle sewing machine, which were commonly used during the war like designating AC flags contracted by Horstman & Scheible 1864-1865. CONDITION: very good overall, body & emblem have good color w/ sm. reductions. The hoist is missing 3" at bottom edge & has about a 2" break at top edge. (02-14828/JS). $3,000-4,000.
