SILVER MILITIA BUTTON. A seldom seen example of a Confederate utilized South Carolina Militia button as worn by officers & possibly diplomats. This button was produced by Jean Battiste Marie Muleur of Sens, France & Agry of Paris, France. This type of solid silver button was produced using coin planchets. Albert # SC-18-A or Tice # SC-208. Face depicts a lg. palmetto tree flanked by "S" & "C". The reverse reads " * AGRY * 14.RE CASTIGLIONE. MON BOUVET J-B.M ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button shows light tarnish as would be expected on early silver. Only the lightest wear is noted. (02-17631/BF). $5,000-7,000.
