Overall length: 37 1/4”. Blade length: 30”. Blade has a single lg. fuller w/ a smaller fuller at the spine. Blade is etched over 2/3 of its length w/ a variety of military & patriotic motifs including a ribbon bearing the letters, “U.S.M.” Blade is etched at the ricasso, “AMES MFG, CO CHICOPEE MASS”. Gilded brass hilt of a M1852 USN officer’s saber however the ribbon on the underside of the guard reads, “U S M”. Wire wrapped sharkskin grip. Iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade has an attractive light gray finish w/ bold etching. There are several tiny nicks on the edge of the blade. Hilt has fine detail but retains only traces of original gilded finish. 99% Of grip is missing & all of wire but the wooden core remains undamaged. Scabbard has a dark patina overall.
