This 24" x 22" shadow box frame has a green felt background. Inside the frame is a discharge for Private James C. Carson in Company A of the 142nd Ohio National Guard. There are three CDVs in the frame: one of Carson in a 9-button frock with a flag backdrop, one seated with two other officers, and one presumably of Carson and his wife. There are five coat-size and ten cuff-size GAR buttons. There is also a reunion ribbon for the 142nd OVI Army of the Potomac for service at Petersburg. Also, there is a GAR "IN MEMORIUM" ribbon for the "ORR POST No. 501 OHIO". Lastly, there is a silver, 4-step ladder badge that reads "CO. A. 142 OHIO. VOL. INF." CONDITION: The discharge is quite yellowed and appears to have a small burn mark in the lower third. The CDVs are discolored and appear to be in yellowed plastic. Buttons have some verdigris. Ribbons and ladder badge show light wear. (02-23761/BF). $400-600.
