SMITH & WESSON NO. 2 ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 32 RF Long. S# 21271. Bbl. 6" oct. w/ rib & semi circular front sight. 6 Shot rnd. cyl. Tip up action w/ spur trigger & nickel finish. 2 Piece walnut grips. Back strap is inscribed "Lieut. Johns 61st Mass. Vols.". Massachusetts Soldiers, Sailors & Marines in the Civil War, Vols. 4 & 5, state the following information: Henry T. Johns was born April 1828 in Philadelphia, PA. He enlisted in the 49th Mass. Infantry in Sept. 1862. He was commissioned an officer of the 61st Mass. Volunteers in Sept. 1864 & mustered out w/ his regiment in June 1865. On Nov. 5th, 1893, Johns was awarded the Medal of Honor for "Extraordinary Heroism" on May 27, 1963 while serving as a private w/ Company C of the 49th Mass. Infantry at Port Hudson, Louisiana. CONDITION: over 90% renickel finish showing scattered spots of corrosion & very light pitting. Hammer, trigger & loading rod have faded to mottled gray brown. Grips show scattered dents & scratches w/ repaired chip at bottom of right panel. Bore is dark & pitted retaining largely intact rifling. (01-17127/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,500-4,000.
