A fine example of a Confederate Artillery coat button commonly known as a manuscript “A”. This button was produced in England under contract w/ Halfmann & Taylor of Montgomery, Alabama. Generally, they were imported from England by blockade runners to Southern ports of entry & subsequently utilized throughout the Confederacy.
Albert # CS-105-A-1. Face depicts a single letter “A” in manuscript style. The reverse is marked, “HALFMANN & TAYLOR .MONTGOMERY. ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button retains areas of original gilded finish. (02-17632/BF). $1,400-1,800.
