Cal. 32. S# 31183. Bbl 6". Smith and Wesson model 2 army revolvers were most popular American cartridge pistol of their day. This revolver based on serial number was made in 1864. Standard configuration, longer 6” ribbed octagonal barrel stamped on rib “SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS”. 6-shot cylinder has rolled patent dates 1855-1860, varnished rosewood grips. Nice attractive survivor of popular Civil War officer’s revolver. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, complete & matching, retaining 20-30% original blue finish, balance gray patina, well fit grips with edge ware retain much of their original varnish. mechanically fine, good rifled bore.
