Standard configuration of the repeater that changed the Civil War for the Union in firepower, 22" blued round barrel with adjustable ladder rear sight, top of frame has 3-line address: "SPENCER REPEATING / RIFLE CO. BOSTON, MASS / PAT'D MARCH 6, 1860". CONDITION: very good overall, appears all original and complete, maker's mark mostly discerned, metal has mottled smooth grey patina, stock has an early refinish obscuring inspection cartouche. Top of breech has "&" reminiscent of Confederate C&R marks stamped in stocks. Mechanics fine, good bright rifled bore. (01-26835/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
