Cal. 44. S#. 193184. Mfg. 1871. Bbl. 8" with creeping style loading lever and period replaced dovetailed German silver blade front sight. The 1-line New York address is clearly legible. The six shot rebated cyl features the naval engagement rolled scene and legible engagement date. Standard "COLTS / PATENT" stamp found on the left side of the three screw frame that has a capping channel present. Left shoulder of the brass trigger guard is stamped 44 CAL. The iron back strap correctly lacks the cuts for shoulder stock attachment. The original Colt 1-piece grips have the name "JR DIRKSY . S. D" penciled in the channel with no serial number legible. The bbl, straps, cyl, & arbor all have matching numbers. The wedge is unnumbered. CONDITION: Overall good-very good. The bbl retains traces of thinning blue in the protected areas. The balance has a grey patina with some mottled old oxidation. The cylinder scene remains at approx 60% with some pitting on the cyl obscuring areas. Back strap and frame have a mottled grey patina with some spots of old oxidation. The well fit grip's varnish is hand worn with some rounding and light chipping on the high edges. A couple of the screws are a little buggered. The bore has distinct rifling with shallow pitting and wear. (01-29509/ZAL) ANTIQUE $1000-1500
