HIGH POWER PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 71166. Bbl. 4 3/4". The tangent sighted WWII German occupation pistols are some of the most collectible High Powers extant. This example, coded "103", is relatively scarce, having been made April-December of 1941 in the approx. S# 65285-93000 according to Anthony Vanderlinden in his "FN Browning Pistols" book, Third Edition, Volume II, page 747. Fitted with a drift adj. front sight and a tangent rear sight fully graduated from 50-500. Left side of slide with the usual 3-line address referencing the FN factory, its location in Herstal, and Browning's patent. Full S# on the exposed bbl. hood, right side of slide, and right side of frame. German acceptance markings, with "WaA103" code on left side of the slide and frame, in addition to the usual test proofs. Non-slotted frame fitted with checkered walnut panels, generously bordered, no inner staining. Fitted with a correct mag. with aluminum follower, blued body marked with the 103 code and split tail floorplate. MAGS: 1 13-rd. CONDITION: original rust blue with approx. 80-85% coverage, wear pattern consistent with moderate military field service with holster wear and thinning of grip straps, particularly the front strap. Comparable condition grips with oil darkening and checkered blunting. Near excellent original finish mag. Bright bore, light oxidation, easily discernible rifling, and correct manual mechanics. One of the most desirable High Power pistols from WWII. (25-3460/LMA). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
