Cal. 6.35mm. S# 228. Bbl. 2 1/4". The SIG Chylewski is a "must" pistols for every SIG collector, as it was only the second pistol made by SIG, the first being the Model 1894 blow forward made under Mannlicher's license. In addition to being such an early gun, it was either the first or certainly one of the first Einhand pistols in which the forward trigger guard actuates the slide to allow 1-handed cocking, a remarkable mechanic. This pocket pistol has a fixed front sight and notched rear sight within a shallow groove. The left side of the slide is marked with the earliest SIG address "SOCIETE JINDUSTRIELLE SUISSE NEUHAUSEN". The trigger guard slider is marked "BREVET/ CHYLEWSKI". The S# is on the left side of the frame and repeated inside the rear of the slide and on under the bbl. just forward of the lugs. On the left side of the frame is a safety lever that also acts to retain the slide during disassembly. Finely checkered walnut panels, each retained by a central screw. Bottom mag. release, the mag. having 6-indicator holes, the bottom of the left side closely numbered "234". MAGS: 1 7-rd. CONDITION: 99% as professionally restored. The only give away being the rounding of the mating surfaces of the slide and tang at rear. VG-EXC grips with oil darkening and a scattering of superficial handling marks, particularly the right panel. Comparable condition mag. Bright bore. Correct manual mechanics. A rare, early, and beautifully presenting Einhand pistol made by SIG. (25-3443/LMA). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
